OUR PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Ahrens has a proven track record of delivering high-quality design and construct solutions for a variety of clients in the manufacturing & industrial sector.
FERROCUT OFFICE & MANUFACTURING FACILITY
Osborne, South Australia
This design and construct project provided leading steel plate profiling and cutting company, Ferrocut, with a modern manufacturing facility within the Techport industrial precinct.
The client required a sustainable building design that maximised the use of natural lighting and rainwater harvesting.
The workshop was designed with large open spaces to allow for the manufacture, storage and cutting of steel profiles and included four 20-tonne overhead cranes. An attractive and high quality fit-out was applied to the offices, boardroom and reception area, while the external facade has a striking colour scheme that reflects the client's brand and highlights the attention to detail that has been applied throughout the facility.
CAVPOWER SERVICE OPERATIONS CENTRE
Gepps Cross, South Australia
Ahrens continued their excellent relationship with leading South Australian business, Cavpower, with the design and construct of their new $20-million-dollar Service Operations Centre.
The project featured a number of complex requirements and equipment installations within the workshop layout and design to ensure it met Caterpillar's world-class standard.
Scope of works included general and new machine build up workshops, hydraulics, engineering, fabrication, a track press, wash bay and spray booth for the painting of Caterpillar equipment.
BILYARA CASK HALLS
Nuriootpa, South Australia
Ahrens were engaged to construct an expansive new building extension for client Treasury Wine Estates. The Bilyara Cask Hall buildings are special to Ahrens as the original five, 12-metre span buildings were built by third-generation family member Bob Ahrens.
Scope of works for the expansive extension included footings, supply and installation of concrete slabs, shop detailing, fabrication, site erection, supply and installation of precast panels, as well as the supply and installation of Kingspan cladding in fitting with the existing building.
Further services include siphonic drainage systems and fire protecton with speed fire walls and Promotec cladding. This project demonstrated our strong vertical integration with work for our fabrication shop, paintline and site services, as well as great utilisation of our plant and equipment.
BORAL CLINKER STORAGE BUILDINGS
Ahrens were engaged to complete a large storage facility for repeat client, Boral, who had initially engaged a third party engineer to provide a design. However as part of their tender, Ahrens could apply extensive experience and internal fabrication workshop capabilities to provide a more efficient and cost-effective design.
Ahrens completed the design and supply of the expansive building measuring 48m x 100m x 36m high. Efficient design methodologies applied included uniforming design such as joint connections and welding details, swapping out heavily-welded beams for custom beams and eliminating labour-intensive steel work for more simple yet quality fabrication.
Boral were extremely happy with the quality result, the cost-savings that were able to be applied as well as the quick delivery of the overall project due to utilising Ahrens' in-house capabilities.
NATRIO SODA ASH FACILITY
Gilman, South Australia
Ahrens designed and constructed this new storage facility in Port Adelaide for client, Natrio - a global company specialising in the import and distribution of high volume dry chemicals, efficient logistics and supply chain solutions.
Work included the construction of a 4,500m2 bulk storage facility for the storage of up to 24,000 tonnes of soda ash, an essential raw material used in the manufacturing of glass, detergents, chemicals and other industrial uses. The natural fine powder is imported from America and shipped to Australia where it then needs to be stored until it can be distributed to customers as needed.
Additional scope of works included allowances for bulk storage trucks to drive in and dump the soda ash as well as conveyor systems and a hopper for the input and output of the product.
