For Brandi Whitaker, Account & Business Development Manager at Pioneer Water Tanks America, the journey to her current role has been one of transformation and opportunity.
Originally from Los Angeles, Brandi relocated to San Marcos, Texas, in 2018 for her husband’s work. Seeking a change from the corporate tech world to somewhere where she felt like she was making a difference, she joined Pioneer Water Tanks just before the pandemic hit. Despite a delayed start, she quickly made an impact, beginning as a sales administrator before progressing into account management and business development.
“We operate on a much smaller scale compared to Pioneer Water Tanks in Australia,” Brandi explains. “But we’re small and mighty – everyone wears a lot of hats, takes on multiple tasks, and works incredibly hard. It’s a great team to be a part of.”
Brandi’s role involves supporting the dealer network, helping them find new pipelines and innovative ways to market their businesses. One of her proudest achievements is dealer acquisition, particularly in expanding Pioneer Water Tanks’ presence into Latin America. Being bilingual in Spanish has been instrumental in building relationships with dealers in Mexico, Argentina, Panama, Chile, and the Caribbean.
“I studied Spanish as part of my school and college. My husband is Spanish which has helped me build my conversational skills; this has been an invaluable tool in strengthening our networks and growing our business in new markets,” she said.
Her role continues to evolve, with her responsibilities now expanding to include marketing. This hybrid approach allows her to influence the company’s strategies based on dealer needs and market trends. “It’s exciting to have more control over pushing what really matters in the market,” she said.
Brandi also notes the unique challenges of operating in America compared to Australia. Unlike the Australian model, where dealers have exclusive territories, the American market operates without exclusivity, requiring careful coordination to match customers with the right dealer without causing conflicts. Another challenge lies in installation, the American teams work with imperial measurements while the tanks are manufactured in metric, making accuracy and conversions essential for a successful build.
In late 2024, Brandi had the opportunity to travel to Australia to participate in the Ahrens Academy, an experience she describes as invaluable. “It was fantastic to meet people from different divisions of Ahrens and see how they manage their clients and projects. It pushed me to set new goals and think about markets differently,” she said. “The program also provided great tips on stress management and work-life balance. Since returning home, I’ve been more focussed on my fitness and overall wellbeing, which has really improved my lifestyle.”
Outside of work, Brandi is an avid gardener, incorporating rainwater harvesting techniques she’s learned from Pioneer into her own backyard. She also enjoys spending time with her three-year-old son, Sebastian, who keeps her on her toes.
With a passion for problem-solving, collaboration, and growth, Brandi is committed to driving Pioneer Water Tanks America forward with a clear vision—creating stronger dealer relationships, expanding into new territories, and aligning marketing efforts to ensure Pioneer remains an industry leader.
