Ahrens successfully completed the EP7 Project at Olympic Dam for Exact Contracting, as part of a broader program for mine operator BHP.
Lasting 11 months, the complex evaporation pond upgrade increases the site’s capacity to manage waste process liquor and is critical to supporting long-term production.
The scope included new liquor transfer pump stations, piping, structural steel, civil works, and electrical and instrumentation systems, with specialised features such as pigging stations, automated valve networks and leak detection systems. Operating within a live site and managing the process liquor, the project demanded rigorous planning, safety diligence and excellent environmental controls.
Completion of EP7 marks a major milestone for Olympic Dam and showcases Ahrens’ ability to deliver safe, smart and collaborative construction outcomes in high-risk environments.
