Engineering Excellence, Built for Performance at Scale
The design and construction of this impressive large-scale feedlot for client Mort & Co entailed a steam-flaking plant, bulk grain storage facility and an additional six buildings. The facility’s primary on-site storage consists of three 650-tonne grain silos and a 2,000-tonne silo, both manufactured and supplied by Ahrens Silos.
A key feature of the feedlot is its fully-automated milling capability, having three 24” x 56” flaking mills producing 90 tonnes of steam-cooked grain per hour, which caters for 62,000 head of cattle. Six liquid tanks and auto-batching complete with twin batch boxes for truck loading are also a feature of this mill. Mort & Co was thrilled with the results and has experienced higher productivity compared to industry benchmarks.
