Pioneer's largest & heaviest tank delivered for Rio Tinto in Robe River
The mine site at Pilbara had a full EPCM service provided by Pioneer Water Tanks. Scope of works involved the decommissioning of existing fire services, temporary bypass, the dismantling and disposal of existing tanks, as well as the construction of the new tanks and installation of new pipework and recommissioned fire services.
Pioneer Water Tanks recently completed the refurbishment of the TK01 XL150/8 cyclonic progress water / fire water tank at Rio Tinto Cape Lambert Port B, approximately 69 kilometres north-east of Karratha in WA.
The tank is the largest and heaviest tank that Pioneer has ever manufactured and installed across the nation. TK01 is a critical water storage asset in the provision of process and firewater to the entire Cape Lambert Port B Process, stockpiling and out-loading operations.
The team have installed two over-pressurisation pipes, completely replaced the cyclonic tank and shell structure, inspected and repaired the XL150/8 cyclonic roof structure as per client specifications, supplied and installed a new XR5 tank liner into the shell tank, installed a new nozzle extension for the tank inlets to reduce splash filling, as well as designing, supplying and installation additional roof vents to improve breathability and ventilation of the vapour space.
