As part of their contract to supply mining services at the Roy Hill iron ore mine site, Downer Group required a three bay Heavy Vehicle maintenance workshop that included a secure tool and battery room store area.
Wheatbelt Steel was awarded this project and engineered a HV workshop incorporating the secure internal storage area. Over 75 tonnes of steel formed the design with 610 Universal Beam (RSJ) trusses and columns. The building included roof insulation, safety mesh with translucent skylight sheeting and ridge venting. Four personal access doors, a 5m roller door and several openings were also required. The fabrication and construction of this project took 8 weeks total with the steelwork being erected upon arrival on-site within 7 days.
