Southern Cross and Ahrens Rural team up on Snow Loading Tanks

In early 2020, Ahrens were approcahed by the team at Aqua Energy Group about constructing a series of water tanks that could withstand the heavy snow loads in remote NSW alpine regions. Teaming up with the engineering team from Ahrens Rural, they developed a conical roof inspired by the roof shape of a transportable silo that was able to be manufactured on our internal roll formers.

Initially contracted to install 20 fire, potable and raw water storage tanks, changes over the course of the project led the an additional 7 tanks being added to the plan, bringing the total to 27 specially designed water tanks being installed over the two-year project.

It was a fantastic opportunity to have SX Water lead the way in supporting such vital tank works for a landmark Australian project, with tanks installed in a wide range of sizes, colours and shapes to suit the specific needs of each stage of the project.
