Southern Cross install Thermal Energy Storage tank
Thermal Energy Storage (TES) provides an alternative solution to combat rising electricity prices. The concept is to take advantage of off-peak power rates to chill a column of water to be used during peak times to run air-conditioning systems .
Over the years SXWater has been involved in a number of TES projects with various-sized storage tanks from 100m3 to 10,000m3. This project included a relatively small but very colourful tank that was recently installed by the Southern Cross Water Team in WA .
