Toll Rous Head Industrial Park

Ahrens designed and constructed a new intermodal freight facility at the Port of Fremantle, in partnership with Fremantle Ports Authority, to provide storage and access for importers and exporters utilising Toll’s national freight network. Scope of works for the 4.3-hectare site included a 6,000m2 warehouse and cross dock, 2,500 twenty-foot equivalent unit (teu) of hardstand for the container park, quarantine and fumigation services, and a public weighbridge. The facility also included energy efficient features like LED lighting and rainwater harvesting / recycling.

Ahrens received the project in a negotiated deal after Bluescope construction went into receivership. Significant civil works were involved for the heavy-duty container park and there was the challenge of families of Fairy Terns who were nesting on site. Despite any challenges, Ahrens delivered the project within the timeframe and Toll Group was extremely pleased with the outcome.
