THIS MULTI-LEVEL CARPARK WAS COMMISSIONED TO ACCOMMODATE O’BAHN COMMUTERS AND PROVIDES 700 CARPARKS OVER FIVE LEVELS AS PART OF THE SA GOVERNMENT’S PARK ‘N’ RIDE NETWORK.
The DPTI provided a 30% reference design, allowing Ahrens to further develop the concept drawings whilst complying with all government requirements. Construction presented several challenges due to the clay soil on-site and limited site access. Structural works needed to allow for 150mm of heave incorporated into the design to ensure stability throughout the structure.
Ahrens delivered the project cost-effectively by applying smarter design features such as mesh screens to provide ventilation and remove the need for exhaust extractors. Ahrens supplied 630T of steel fabrication as well as all steel erection and metalwork. Using in-house steel manufacturing, Ahrens was able to meet tight scheduling for just-in-time delivery to site.
