Across a team of 30 employees, the average tenure sits at an impressive 8.1 years, with seven team members having more than a decade of service. It’s a clear indicator of stability, trust and a culture people choose to stay part of.
Since Ahrens acquired the Parkes and PLD businesses in 2016, continuity has been a defining feature of the transition. For many long-serving team members, the change was seamless. As Senior Project Manager Phil Natoli, who has been with the company 35 years, explains, “It’s been business as usual. The culture stayed the same, with that family business element still there. Ahrens has built on it with stronger systems, especially around health and safety.”
That continuity has been critical in maintaining strong client relationships, particularly with long-term banking clients such as CBA and Westpac. Senior Site Manager Slav Tsvirko, who joined the business in 1992, credits experience and consistency. “We’ve worked with the same clients and contractors for years. That familiarity helps us deliver projects on time, with minimal defects and a streamlined experience.”
The PLD business also brings a specialised skillset within the broader Ahrens group. Operating as a standalone arm, it combines nuanced expertise with collaborative delivery across electrical and data services. General Manager – Electrical, Gabe DiMeco, says that trust is built through teamwork. “We work closely with the project managers and know the client as well as they do. That helps manage expectations and resolve issues quickly.”
R&FO General Manager Michael Robertson says the team’s depth of experience has been vital to long-term success. “They know the work, understand the client and pass that knowledge on. The trust clients place in Ahrens today is a direct result of the people who’ve been delivering consistently for years.”
It’s a legacy of care, capability and commitment that continues to shape the NSW team today.
